No, not like that! Don't let the title of this blog scare you. I haven't decided to abandon my manhood or anything. But quite often, I wonder how much more work I could get from doing so. Honestly, I've heard "Sorry, the client has decided to go with a female" more times this year than I care to remember. You ladies are obviously doing something very right. For as many more times as you probably hear "sorry, going with a male", I have no room to complain. Glad this business is slowly balancing as time goes on.
I do wonder though if the ladies in voiceover have more of an edge than they think. I mean, it's no secret the industry is overloaded with guys. I haven't done any studies but I would bet guys outnumber girls at least 5 to 1. Which means, of course, that if you're a girl and you're good, you have a chance to really stand out. Couple that with business savvy and some networking skills and you're unstoppable. Especially now that we're hearing more woman on the airwaves than ever. You go girl!
